Boise's Whitewater Park is one of my absolute favorite places to hang out that's close to downtown. It's absolutely huge and hugs the Boise River, has multiple ponds for fishing or paddleboarding, a manmade wave shaper so you can surf nearly all year round. There are playgrounds, trails circling the entire circumference and cutting through the park...and the views of the foothills are TO DIE FOR. It's open year-round and is particularly great for walking your dog, rollerblading, biking, and jogging.

Since it's right up against the river, it also has Greenbelt access (which is 25 MILES of paved trails following the Boise River from Boise all the way out to Eagle. It's incredible!)

Another thing that's awesome about Whitewater Park is that on Saturdays Spring-Fall, there's the 34th St. Market that takes place on the other side of the river (there's a bridge to access it). The 34th St. Market features tons of local vendors and artisans, food trucks, all things local to Boise. There are a couple restaurants and cafes on that side of the river as well, and it's all-around just a great place to spend a Saturday morning.

Check out this drone footage for a bird's eye view of the park and its surroundings!
